Description: Ursula K. Le Guin: A Wizard of Earthsea, Berkeley, CA: Parnassus Press. A very good copy of the 1968 First Edition and the second state without the vertical smudge to the Title Page and lacking the "Library Edition $3.95." It comes in a very good clipped dust jacket with "11 up" mostly visible on the upper corner of the front flap. 8vo. [205] Publishers blue-green boards with embossed title on the front. Condition: A small bump to the upper front, a bit of softening to the spine tips, some creasing along the spine with some discoloration and some foxing along along the upper and outer page edges. The binding is tight and the interior is clean and unmarked. The dust jacket shows toning to the paper, some chipping to the fold and spine ends, a crease to the upper back cover and some heavy sunning to the spine. Overall a nice copy of one of the classics of children's literature, and of fantasy. The story is set in the fictional archipelago of Earthsea, and centers on a young islander named Ged, who has innate magical powers and is invited by a great wizard to learn how to use his power. Ged's adventures would became a trilogy, as Earthsea would be followed by The Tombs of Atuan and The Farthest Shore. Ursula Le Guin died in 2018 at the age of 88.
