A very good copy of Donn Pearce's first published novel in a very good, unclipped dust jacket. The Charles Scribner's Sons 1965 First Edition and printing with the A-6.65 (V) code on the copyright page. Pearce would later team with screenwriter Frank Pierson to co-write the Academy Award–nominated screenplay for the 1967 film of the same name starring Paul Newman. 8vo. 304 pages - Publishers' blue cloth boards with light shelf wear with some softening to the spine tips and a slight spine lean. A previous owner name in ink to the upper front flyleaf. The dust jacket with the $4.95 price is well worn with creasing along the edges, a closed tear at the upper front cover and rear flap, chipping at the fold and spine tips, with some loss at the lower spine. Overall, a very good copy of this scarce 1965 First Edition.
