A very good copy of Roald Dahl's 1961 children's classic "James and the Giant Peach." Signed and not personalized on the half-title page; "With Best Wishes from Nancy Ekholm Burkert."  Published by Alfred A. Knopf, this is the first edition, but not the first printing as it features the 4-line colophon on the last page and the ISBN number on the lower back cover of the jacket. Large 8vo 9" - 10" tall; 119 pages with the iconic Nancy Ekholm Burkert illustrations. Publishers' red cloth boards with gilt stamped titles to the spine and James stamped in blind on the front cover. Softening to the spine tips and a tiny bump to the lower corners. The interior is clean and unmarked. The dust jacket is price clipped and in very good condition with just light wear to the fold and spine ends and two small, closed tears on the rear cover. Overall, a nicer than usual copy of this very early edition signed by the books illustrator.
