This is a very good copy of the First edition of Joel Chandler Harris's second book of Uncle Remus stories and the follow-up to his 1981 International bestseller Uncle Remus. (BAL 7109) Nicely illustrated by Frederick Church with the frontispiece and 19 plates featuring Brother Fox, Brother Bear, Brother Rabbit, and Mr. Lion. 8vo. 416 pages - Publisher's blue pictorial cloth stamped in gold and black on the cover and spine. Typical wear to edges with corners bumped and rubbed, some chipping and fraying to the spine tips and sunning to the spine. Interior surprisingly clean and unmarked with light toning to outer page edges, chipping and a small tear to the tissue guarding the Frontis, a small tear along the gutter of the title page and several small tears to several other pages. Overall, a very good copy featuring seventy-one of Harris's most popular animal and folklore tales of the south.
