An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations — Adam Smith — 1812 “New Edition” — 3 Volumes

London: Cadell and Davies, et al., 1812. Three volumes, xliii, [1], 499; viii, 523; vii, [1], 515 pp. 8vo (21×13 cm). Nicely rebound in modern brown cloth with gilt‑lettered Morocco spine labels; new endpapers; marbled edges.

Early 19th‑century printing of this important “New Edition,” featuring the prefatory biography of Adam Smith and comparative analysis of his doctrine versus the French Economists. A foundational work in economic theory and a key collectible edition.

Condition: Vol. 1 with repairs to corners of first three leaves; mild corner creasing in places; scattered foxing; marbled edges faded with occasional scuffing.

Note: This 1812 edition is not just a reprint—it includes: A newly added biography of Adam Smith. A comparative essay contrasting Smith’s doctrine with those of the French Economists. (Physiocrats) These additions were not part of the original 1776 edition and reflect the growing scholarly engagement with Smith’s work in the early 1800s. Also notable is that it was Printed for a Large Consortium (15) of London Publishers and bookseller's reflecting the high demand for Smith’s work.

Overall, very good, clean, and solid across all three volumes.
