On the jackets front flap publisher Collins, London writes, Ten Little N****** is "The Greatest Crime Story the Crime Club has ever Published. We believe it may come to be considered the greatest crime problem ever devised in fiction." Considered the world's best-selling "closed-room mystery" with over 100 million copies sold! This is a very good copy of the April 1941 third printing in the scarce unclipped dust jacket with the exceedingly rare printer's error which duplicates pages 223-238 and binds them in upside down between pages 238 and 239! The books racist title was taken from a minstrel song. The title was changed here in the U.S. for the American version released in 1940 as " And Then There Were None" taken from the last five words of the song. Condition: 8vo. 252 pages with 2-pages of ads at the rear. Publishers' orange cloth boards in very good condition with corners bumped and rubbed, a very slight spine lean, a bit of foxing to the upper and outer page edges and with a previous owner's name in ink dated 1945 on the front flyleaf. The scarce jacket is in surprisingly nice condition with six titles on the rear cover ending with "Death on the Nile." The jacket is unclipped with a Collins "4/6 net" price on a small label affixed to the lower front flap. Chipping to the fold and spine tips, light soiling to the paper and some sunning to the spine. Overall, a very collectible and early printing of this sought after Christie title.
