Izaak Walton ~ The Compleat Angler. This is the illustrated and limited-edition numbered 264 of 750 copies Published in 1931 by George C. Harrap & Co., Ltd., London, being the first, deluxe edition adorned with Arthur Rackham's illustrations. Using the text of the fifth edition of 1676, and the last to be revised by Walton prior to his death in 1683.  Beautifully rebound in supple white full sheepskin leather from J. Hewit & Son, Edinburgh, stamped in gilt, with refreshed endpapers and being most probably an unread copy with many pages still uncut and unopened. This volume unfortunately has suffered a spill in an earlier life causing a dampstain that is now visible along the gutter and upper and lower edges of many interior pages (see attached photos). SIGNED by ARTHUR RACKHAM as called for on the Limitation Page with 12 full page color illustrations, each with titled tissue guards and featuring some 25 in-text black and white Rackham line cuts. Condition: 4to, 224 pages - 10 3/4" x 8 1/4" bound in full white sheepskin leather with gilt stamping to front and spine and with gilt top edge, illustrated endpapers with some toning and foxing to some pages along with damp staining visible on many interior pages.
