A One-of-a-Kind Bukowski Collectible ~ Charles Bukowski — South of No North (1973)

No. 39 of 50 copies (from 60 total) with original pastel drawing by Bukowski, signed on the artwork and again at the colophon. Association copy with typed letter and envelope signed by Black Sparrow publisher John Martin to Seamus Cooney, accompanied by an original collage from artist Bobbie Creeley created for husband Robert Creeley's 1968 special edition of "The Finger." In his letter to Cooney, Martin heralds South of No North as “an earth-shaker,” placing it alongside Naked Lunch and Last Exit to Brooklyn.

8vo. Hand-bound by Earle Gray; designed by Barbara Martin; printed by Noel Young. Near Fine in Marble-patterned pale purple, white, black & gray boards, linen-backed spine with paper label, publisher’s acetate jacket.

Condition: Mild foxing to boards, light stains at fore-edge; overall Near Fine. Collage and letter Near Fine with slight foxing with some soiling and a small tear to the envelope.
