A very good or better copy of the 1937 first edition of John Marquand's huge best seller The Late George Apley signed by the author on the Title Page. A very early January 1937 reprint From Little Brown & Company in Boston and published the same month as the first edition. Lacking the dust jacket. 
 
Condition: 8vo. 354 pages - publishers blue cloth with gilt print and decoration to the front and spine with red topstain. Light edgewear with rubbing to the corners and softening to the spine ends. A small "Old Corner Bookstore", Boston label and a January 31, 1937, inscription in ink to the front free endpaper. A number of tan streaks to pages & onto to edges of text block, as is usual with this edition due to use of acidic paper. 
 
Overall, a very nice, signed copy of Marquand's 1938 Pulitzer Prize winning novel.
