Arkham House, Sauk City, WI, 1944 ~ Jacket illustration by Charles Frank Wakefield, Just the sixth Arkham House publication and one of just 1559 copies.
Condition: 8vo. Octavo, (7.5" x 5.5") 394pp - Original blue cloth in very good condition, spine lettered in gilt. With a very good, unclipped $3.00 dust jacket, designed by Frank Wakefield. Corners and spine tips lightly bumped and softened. Interior clean and unmarked. The jacket is a beauty with just light edgewear and some creasing to the fold and spine tips and sunning to the spine.
Overall, a very good copy of one of the sought-after early Arkham House publications. Whitehead died in 1932 and these fourteen weird tales were published posthumously.
From the library of early Arkham House and Fantasy Press Sci-Fi collector George A. Richardson with his neat Ex LIBRIS label affixed to the front flyleaf.
