For the discriminating collector - An outstanding and Near Fine copy of the 1903 Peter Newell edition of Carroll's The Hunting of the Snark in the rare Near Fine 121-year-old dust jacket. Featuring poems from "Rhyme and Reason," "Alice in Wonderland," Through the Looking Glass" and Sylvie and Bruno. Designed as a companion novel to the earlier "Alice in Wonderland" and "Through the Looking Glass" released by Harper & Brothers in 1901 and 1902. Condition: 8vo. 248 pages - publishers attractive ribbed green cloth boards with gilt stamped titles and decoration to the front and spine with the rare matching stiff green dust jacket with iridescent clover lining. Top edge gilt, other edges still uncut and in fact a number of pages remain uncut and unread. Illustrated with color frontispiece with tissue guard and 39 black and white plates. Some spotting to the cloth boards and a bump to the lower spine tip. Some toning and foxing to a few interior pages. The dust jacket is in near fine condition clipped at the corners and unpriced. Just minor edgewear with some wear along the front flap fold and along the front hinge where the book was opened.
