A very good copy of the ca. 1850 first edition of "Young Troublesome" or Master Jacky's Holidays in the original Bradbury and Evans, London paper boards priced at 5s. 6d. Plain and 7s. 6d. Coloured. This volume colored and designed and etched by renowned British caricaturist and illustrator John Leech. Oblong 8vo. 11 1/2" x 7" - Unpaginated. Title and eleven hand-colored etched plates printed on recto only. Half title with cast of characters printed on verso. Twenty-five illustrations total with letterpress. Heavy paper boards over leather spine. Boards are worn and toned with a few spots; the spine is cracked with a good portion of the leather chipped away. It is rare to even find the original binding in one piece as most have been rebound. A pencil notation on the front flyleaf. A small stain on the half title and toning and spotting to interior pages. The etched plates are complete and holding together well.
