A very good copy of Roberts’ beloved chronicle of Maine life, issued in the special Arundel Edition. Octavo, 384 pages plus index. Publisher’s quarter white cloth over blue boards, with gilt-stamped leather spine label; deckle fore and bottom edges. Lacking the slipcase and extra suite of illustrations. 
 
Condition:
• Blue cloth shows sunning and fading, as is typical.
• White cloth darkened with age.
• Light edgewear with the black spine label rubbed, scratched and lightly faded.
• Interior clean and tight, with no markings.
 
Overall, a handsome and increasingly scarce signed edition, pairing Roberts’ text with Wyeth’s iconic illustrations. A cornerstone for collectors of New England literature and American illustration.
