J. D. Salinger — Nine Stories — 1953 First Edition (Stated) — Little, Brown
A very good first edition of Salinger’s second book, published in 1953 and lacking the dust jacket. Copyright page states “First Edition.” Includes some of Salinger’s most enduring and anthologized work: “A Perfect Day for Bananafish,” “Uncle Wiggily in Connecticut,” and “For Esmé—with Love and Squalor.”
Hardcover, 8vo, 302 pages. Publisher’s black cloth with gilt spine titles (rubbed and faded). Light edgewear overall. Front corners and spine tips bumped, with some fraying at the upper spine head. A small stain impacting the upper and lower edges of a few preliminary pages but does not touch the text. A few interior pages show minor upper‑corner creasing. Interior otherwise clean and unmarked.
A solid, presentable first edition of one of the defining short‑story collections of the 20th century—quite scarce in any condition even without the jacket.
