Not I, But the Wind. Santa Fe: The Rydal Press, 1934. First Edition, No. 439 of 1000 copies signed by Frieda Lawrence.

A striking production from the Rydal Press, printed on Worthy’s Dacian paper and hand bound in their characteristic Southwestern style.

Large octavo (8vo), 309 pages, with most leaves still uncut — a tactile reminder of its limited‑issue nature. Bound in quarter beige buckram over patterned paper boards, the spine label lightly toned and bearing the phoenix device. A very good copy showing gentle use: corner tips bumped and rubbed, a few tape ghosts along the upper edge, but internally bright and clean. The unclipped, unpriced dust jacket survives in very good condition, with a small, closed tear to the upper front panel, shallow chipping along the top edge and corners, and sunning to the spine.

Frieda Lawrence’s candid memoir of her turbulent life with D. H. Lawrence, enriched with unpublished letters, photographs, and personal materials. A compelling association piece from the heart of the Lawrence circle, beautifully produced and increasingly uncommon in collectible condition.
