At the age of 88 and in his somewhat shaky hand, Robert Frost Inscribes dates and signs this 1962 first edition of "In the Clearing," just a few months before his death in Boston in January of 1963. A very good or better copy of the Holt, Rinehart and Winston stated First Edition in a Near Fine unclipped dust jacket. Inscribed by the four-time Pulitzer Prize Winner on the front flyleaf; "To Bradford Newcomb from Robert Frost With friendly regards - Cambridge May 26 - 62."

Tipped into the front of the book is a partial ticket stub to Frost's last appearance and poetry reading at Sanders Theater at Harvard University. The 8pm show on April 13th, 1962, was sold out with 400 people turned away at the door.

8vo. 101 pages - Publishers' cloth boards with silver stamped print to the spine. A bit of rubbing to the cloth at the spine tips and lower corners and a light vertical crease to the final six pages. The first state dust jacket is in near fine condition with the $4.00 price intact and some light wear along the spine and a small, closed tear to the upper front cover.

Overall, an attractive copy of one of the last handful of books Robert Frost would sign and inscribe in his lifetime.
