Once in a while a Book Club edition takes precedence over the first trade edition. This Book Club Edition is the true FIRST hardcover printing of the original classic that features the ad for the movie "Star Wars" written and directed by George Lucas on the dust jacket rear cover. Tipped into the front is the October 1977 Science Fiction Book Club catalog featuring the Starchild Trilogy by Frederik Pohl and Jack Williams. The copy features the all-important letter code "S27" (July of 1976) in the gutter of page 183. The first trade edition of Star Wars was not printed until after the release of both the paperback and this Science Fiction Book Club edition. 8vo. 183 pages including 8 pages of photos from the soon to be released movie. A near fine copy in paper covered boards with just minor wear to the spine tips and a small spot on the lower front. The interior is clean and unmarked. The John Berkey designed dust jacket is still in very good condition with some creasing to the edges, chipping to the fold and spine tips, sunning to the spine and toning to the front and rear flaps.
