A nicer‑than‑usual copy of Williams’s Pulitzer Prize–winning play, later adapted into the celebrated 1958 film starring Elizabeth Taylor and Paul Newman. This first printing includes the correct issue points: full‑page black‑and‑white plate before “Notes for the Designer,” no New York Times credit on the verso of the title page, and no mention of Lucinda Ballard or Joseph Mielzinger on page xii.
 
8vo, 198pp. - A Clean, Sharp copy bound in the publisher’s original brown cloth with black spine lettering. Light signs of handling only: a small bump to the upper front corner, gentle softening to the spine tips, and toning to the endpapers. A clean, solid copy overall.
The original unclipped ($3.00) pictorial dust jacket, designed by Alvin Lustig, remains in very good condition—bright and attractive, with light edgewear, chipping with some loss at the upper spine end, and mild toning. Still a strong example of this iconic Lustig jacket, which is often found in far worse condition.
 
A desirable first printing of one of Williams’s most enduring works, increasingly scarce in collectible condition—especially with the jacket present and reasonably well‑preserved.
