The first edition of this celebrated Riccardi Press production, printed on hand‑made Riccardi Paper in a limited edition #290 of 500 copies, and beautifully illustrated with twelve tipped‑in color plates by William Russell Flint, each protected by its titled tissue guard. Kingsley’s retellings of Perseus, Jason and the Argonauts, Theseus, and other Greek legends are presented here in one of the Press’s most admired early volumes.

Condition ~ Corners bumped and rubbed; soiling to the paper boards; sunning to the spine with a small stain at the lower tip; 3-inch split to the cloth along the rear joint. Endpapers show expected toning and foxing, with light foxing to the outer edges of a few leaves. Interior otherwise clean and sound.
Ephemera ~ Loosely inserted 4‑page Medici Society advertisement flyer, pricing the paper edition at £2 12s 6d net along with a Scarce Medici Society bookmark tipped in at the front.
