A near fine copy of the Franklin Library 1980 Signed limited edition of Eudora Welty's Pulitzer Prize-winning short novel about "death and class," set in New Orleans and Mississippi. Another beautiful Franklin Library presentation. With Illustrations by Howard Rogers, a new introduction by Welty, penned especially for this limited edition, and the original 22-page "Notes from the Editors" booklet tipped in at the front. 8vo. 194 pages - Bound in full red 22k gilt decorated leather. All edges gilt. Silk moire endpapers, custom-made 70-pound Franklin Library Classic Vellum paper, satin bookmark still in its original position and tissue guarding the signature page. The book is near fine and appears to be unread with just a bit of spotting to the gilt page edges and to the red silk endpapers. Overall, a beautiful, signed collectors copy of one of Welty's most popular and best-selling novels.
