A very good copy of the rare 1930 Mickey Mouse Book — A first edition and first printing of the very first Disney‑licensed publication and a landmark in early Disney history. Issued by Bibo & Lang of New York, this folio‑sized booklet stands as the earliest authorized Mickey Mouse book ever produced, predating the explosion of Disney merchandising and capturing Mickey at the dawn of his fame.
 
This historically important volume includes “The Story of Mickey Mouse,” an eleven‑year‑old Bobette Bibo’s charming tale of how Mickey met Walt and received his name; the “Mickey Mouse Game”; the “Mickey Mouse March”; and the complete three‑page score for the song “Mickey Mouse (You Cute Little Feller)” with the original, uncensored lyrics later suppressed in subsequent printings. Fully illustrated throughout in green and black by Walt Disney, this is the only Disney‑licensed Mickey Mouse book of its kind.
 
4to (approx. 9" x 12"), 16 pages, illustrated stapled wrappers. Very good condition with light edgewear, mild corner creasing, and some soiling/staining to the paper boards. As usual, pages 9 and 10 containing the punch‑out game pieces have been removed; included is an envelope holding 18 of the original game pawn pieces, a desirable survival. Interior otherwise clean and bright.
 
Beginning in the fall of 1930, these books were distributed almost exclusively in movie theaters and given away to Mickey Mouse Club members during Saturday matinees. Only four printings were issued between 1930 and 1931, making first‑issue examples especially scarce.
 
This copy contains all first‑issue points, including: – No “Printed in USA” statement on the lower front cover – The original three‑page score for “Mickey Mouse (You Cute Little Feller)” with the uncensored lyric referencing Minnie’s rescue – Title page bearing the “1930, Walter E. Disney” copyright (later issues read “Walt Disney Enterprises”) – Bobette Bibo’s age not printed under her name – No comic strip on page 8
